About the Ron Paul Revolution

There are certain words that strike a cord with people. Liberty, freedom, revolution. They rub their inner passions the right way. There is an internet thing called the "Ron Paul Revolution". You see, many people are on board with revolution since they are fed up with how this country is headed.

Ron Paul is a diligent supporter of the constitution. So I ask you friends. When has it become revolutionary to follow the rules? The rules of the constitution? "Ron Paul Revolution" is oxymoronic (oxymoron with a little ironic). So please people. Ron Paul has no revolutionary ideas. These ideas have always been with us in the form of the constitution. Ron Paul is not changing the system but following it. Do not be swept away by words such as "Freedom", "Liberty", and "Revolution". Bush went into the war in the name of "Freedom." Think for your selves.

If you really want to see some revolutionary ideas. Watch Mike Gravel give an alternate debate this November 15th starting at 4:30 on:

http://www.ustream.tv/

A link will be posted on http://www.gravel2008.us as well.

The revolutionary idea Mike has is called the National Initiative.

CNN would not let him in the debate because he did not raise $1 Million dollars. Support Mike and let the media know that money is not what is important for a presidential candidate. Let them know that we want is someone with great ideas. Truly revolutionary ideas.

It's a revolution because our current government doesn't follow the Constitution. The 9th and 10th Amendments are ignored or redefined to irrelevancy. Don't get me started on the 4th. Closing down all 700 overseas bases, disbanding the IRS...these sound like revolutionary ideas to me.

I like Gravel too. I'm fairly amazed that the only anti-war candidate getting substantial donations is on the Republican side.

If Gravel gets his National Initiative, it'll be by constitutional amendment...a recognized process that the Constitution provides for, and which we've done plenty of times before. Still following the rules. And it's a pretty cool idea, too, I hope he succeeds.

You are correct on the account that the National Initiative would be enacted by following the rules. I am not against following the rules.

Gravel also wants to disband the IRS and kill the military industrial complex. These ideas are not unique to Ron Paul.

Our government was designed with checks and balances. However it is clear now that those checks and balances were not really balanced. Ron Paul has no solutions to fix the imbalance but band aids to jolt the system back on track.

The National Initiate is actually a solution to the problem because it balances the government better than it is today. It is not simply a band aid but a long term solution.

That is why I support Mike Gravel.

Ron Paul doesn't indeed have any new ideas. It's just the same old ones from Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Samuel Adams, John Adams, and who wants to listen to those old folk? The idea that everyone should have rights to their freedom of speech, property, etc., that everyone should be allowed arms--as it is the last means to defend from tyranny, the right for people to never be violated in their own homes, etc. is surely archaic, and we do not need such new ideas with Bush's more modern ideas of warantless seizures, destruction of habeus corpus, and prosecution of those who petition in ways such a holding "impeach" protests.

Those old ideas are good, and I am not discounting them. Mike Gravel supports all those rights as well. Ron Paul is not unique here.

However, some of the old ideas such as having representative democracy instead of direct democracy are particularly not great. They are elitist and have no confidence in the people. Whats the point of having a republic ("Government from the people") if you can't trust the people.

Not only that but All those old folks predicted that the consolidation of power known as representative democracy would cause problems like the corruption we see today. However, they basically said "This system is better than the Confederation at least, so you should support it."
